SIEMER IMPACT: 72% of families served by the Siemer Institute achieved housing stability.

Need: Housing instability reached new levels of crisis. The national housing wage— the full-time hourly wage needed to afford a modest 2-bedroom rental—reached $33.63, more than 4x the federal minimum wage. This would require 116 work hours per week: the equivalent of 3 full-time jobs.

SIEMER IMPACT: 68% of families served by the Siemer Institute increased their income.

Need: Federal funding cuts and disappearing safety-net resources deepened financial instability nationwide. Cuts to nutrition assistance meant millions lost the ability to afford groceries, with food insecurity rates climbing to 16% by the end of 2025.

SIEMER IMPACT: 96% of children served by the Siemer Institute remained stable in school.

Need: In 2025, new research made the link between housing instability and school disruption unmistakable. Eviction increases absences by 4.3 school days and raises chronic absenteeism by 9%, meaning children miss more school precisely when they need consistency most. Students in evicted households are 12.5% less likely to graduate than their peers.

The Big Picture

Since our founding, the Siemer Institute has invested more than $225 million across our national network—amplified by matching funds from partners in communities nationwide. Each year, these investments support tens of thousands of families on their path to housing and income stability, with resources delivered efficiently at the family level.
