Ms. Martin and her family of seven reached out to the Mighty Families program when they began struggling in March of this year. Unfortunately, they faced the hardest struggle in their life: homelessness. They were able to pay for a motel, but things got more difficult to the point where they were sleeping in their car.
The Mighty Families Community Resource Navigator began working with them, and referred them to Chicanos Por La Causa’s Supportive Housing Program. The navigators from both programs worked together to ensure that they could find a property that would work for Ms. Martin’s family. The Mighty Families program was able to assist them with move in costs, a food gift card, and a box with household essentials!
“Our landlord is AMAZING and so are our neighbors. As of 8/28/2022, we have been in our home for four months. We just got another blessing from them recently. They brought us two huge boxes of household essentials that we definitely were in need of, with EVERYTHING from toothpaste, toilet paper, and paper towels to a vacuum cleaner, a set of pots and pans, and even a fan, as well as a $100 Walmart gift card for groceries! If not for this organization, I don’t know where we’d be. Thank you, Chicanos Por La Causa, for giving us back our belief that there are still great places with wonderful people who are willing to help families in need.”
